How It Works
Reporting piracy of Sky content is designed to take minutes, not hours. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you submit a report to the moment it's resolved.
1. You submit a report
Fill in the report form with the infringing URL(s), which Sky content is affected, and where it's hosted. No account or login is required, and your email is optional, it's only used if we need to follow up on your report.
2. We review the submission
A member of the anti-piracy team reviews the report against the evidence provided (and any screenshot you attached) to confirm it genuinely shows unauthorized use of Sky content.
3. A takedown notice is generated
Once verified, we generate a formal copyright takedown notice using the details from your report, the infringing URL, a statement of Sky's ownership, and the legal declarations required for a valid notice. The notice is formatted for the platform involved, whether that's Google Search, YouTube, or a website host.
4. The notice is submitted
The notice is submitted through the relevant platform's removal process, for example, Google's Content Removals tool or YouTube's copyright webform, or sent directly to a hosting provider's abuse or DMCA contact.
5. We track the outcome
Every report is tracked from submission through to resolution, including the platform's response (removed, rejected, or pending), so there's a clear record of the action taken.
What we ask for
- The exact URL(s) where you found the content, the more specific, the faster we can act.
- Which Sky property or programme is affected (a dropdown makes this quick).
- Where it's hosted, search engine, YouTube, a website, an IPTV service, etc.
- A screenshot, if you have one, it helps confirm the report and speeds up review.
